In the face of unprecedented disaster, South Carolina Baptist volunteers are mobilized to assist victims of natural and man-made disasters. The multifaceted Disaster Relief ministry in South Carolina includes:
 
Disaster Relief is a ministry of the North American Mission Board, which acts as a sending agency for state units. Assignments for Disaster Relief units are given to the state Baptist Conventions through the North American Mission Board.
 
You allow others to see Jesus in you through your loving response to their needs. Training is required to go on a deployment with any disaster relief team. Two training sessions are offered each year by the South Carolina Baptist Convention.

Spring Disaster Relief Training Conference
March 5 and 6, 2010 
ANDERSON UNIVERSITY *, Anderson, SC

The Disaster Relief Training Conference is for persons willing to give of their time and energy to help others that are in crisis.  You will learn how to respond to people in a time of crisis.  Your response will allow others to see Jesus in you through your loving response to their needs.  Training is required to go on a deployment with any disaster relief team.

* CHANGE OF VENUE:  Due to the large volumn and interest in the disaster relief training, the training has been moved to a larger facilty to accommodiate those attending. The spring Disaster Relief Training Conference will be held at  Anderson University,  Anderson, South Carolina. Registration will begin January 01, 2010.  If you wish to stay overnight, you will need to make your own accommodations. 

South Carolina Disaster Relief (SCDR) currently has over 6,900 trained volunteers and is supported by 124 units.  South Carolina has served in many disasters since its inception in 1989, most notably the 9/11 attack in New York and the Hurricane Katrina response. 

Cost:                  $20.00 for returning volunteers 
                            $25.00 for new volunteers (includes one time fee for     
                            Disaster Relief hat, pins, ID card, and material

THERE WILL BE A $5.00 LATE FEE ADDED ON TO ANY REGISTRATIONS POSTED AFTER March 1, 2010.
